Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines an athletic scholarship to his parents and commitment to his community. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at their property in Eufala. He played second in football and was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. For 1973 Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for a single season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the nation's top lineman. Oklahoma had two National Championships throughout the three years he was a lineman. On his third scholarship, he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree of Education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work throughout his time at college. Then he settled in Tampa following college. He played as a member of the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and was three-times all-pro. His business career began. In 1988 he took on the role of account representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no surprise that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the United States' most outstanding young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds when his college football career began. He was a captain in 1975. commanded the team. In 1993, he joined as a director at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. It was the College Football Hall of Fame honored him in the year 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
